INSPECTION DEPT.
2. Once application is received:
1. Makes sure all areas are filled out and have 2 sets of plans.
2. Collects building permit fee payable to Johnson County Treasurer and $25.00 application fee and $2,000 sewer hookup fee(if applicable) to City of Swisher.
3. Completes Building Permit Inquiry Form.
1. If approved—city sends original to Jo. Co. Bldg. Inspect. Dept. and keeps copy at the city office.
2. If denied—city contacts applicant to inform of denial and why.
3. Johnson County Building Inspection Dept reviews application.
a. If county approves application, they sign off on the application and send back originals to city.
b. If county denies application, they contact applicant, and send back originals to city.

Commercial or Apartments (if doing structural changes) Addition/Remodeling—3-9 working days
Types of Applications that
go thru Jo. Co. Bldg. Inspection Dept.
Structures in excess of 200 sq. ft. This includes decks, accessory buildings, additions, garages etc.
All Commercial and Industrial structures regardless of size.
Apartment remodeling if structural change.

When Johnson County Bldg gets application and the applicant changes mind or the county denies application, the county automatically keeps 65% of fee for plan review costs incurred.
Applicant can pay down 65% of fee, but must go to the county to pay the rest of the fee before the county will approve the building permit.
Fee for sewer hookup is $2,000.00 that must be paid before sewer inspection is done. City will continue to do sewer inspections and sewer permits. Contact City of Swisher Sewer Inspector Tom Leitch at 857-4786 or cell # 981-3226 to setup time to for sewer inspections. Must have at least 48 hours notification.
*Applicant must provide 2 sets of building plans and a site plan, which must be professionally drawn unless under $5000 projects cost.
City will be responsible for enforcing rules.
