PARK COMMISSION

APRIL 12, 2006 MINUTES

Park Commission Meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Park Commissioner Dave Chalupsky at Swisher City Hall, Swisher, Iowa.

Park Commission Members Present: Don Lorenzen, Tom English, Dave Chalupsky.

Agenda and Minutes: Motion by T. English, seconded by D. Lorenzen, to approve Agenda and January 21, 2004 Park Minutes. Motion carried.

Citizens Present: None

Old Business: Commission noted the new playground equipment installed at the park is being well used.

New Business:

Park Improvements: After discussion, the following items were recommended to look into further.

a. Signs for instructions and warnings in park. (such as: Stay off adjoining property owner’s land and pick up your litter)

b. Recycle asphalt for walking trail (like Fire Dept property)

c. Maintenance on swings (replacement)

d. Extra horseshoe pits

e. New scoreboard

f. Three permanent benches along outfield by walking trails

Park Commission adjourned to the Park at 7:20 to review park and continue meeting. After reviewing the park, additional suggested improvements are listed below:

1. Install another horseshoe pit behind first pit

2. General maintenance on swings

3. Replace volleyball poles and set in concrete

4. Replace basketball poles and backboards with heavy duty grade

5. Fence brackets on tennis and basketball court needs replacing

6. Yellow topping tube for outfield ball diamond

7. Distance signs on diamond for foul lines, power alleys, and centerfield fences

8. Pad paved under bleachers and another set of bleachers

9. Light tennis courts and basketball court

10. Install handicap unloading area from parking lot to cement edge of pavilion

11. Widen parking lot by Castek sign to improve depth of angle parking

12. Put metal on gables soffits, fascia for the larger shelter house and restroom building
