MOVIES IN THE PARK, at Dusk June 6, July 11 and August 8, at the Swisher City Park Watch for signs on Division Street with the names of the movies

The North Liberty Farmers Market will kick off on May 18 and run through October 26th. Time is 1-4pm on Sundays in the North Liberty North Parking Lot. We have 7 vendors ready to go.

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To have a sale and be on the map, fill out the enclosed form (forms are also available at the City Hall and on the website) and return the completed form and $3 (per family) to the Swisher City Hall , 66 2nd Street (in drop box) by Monday, April 21st, 5 p.m. Make checks payable to WILOS. Maps will be available at the City Office prior to the event. Parking has been a problem in the past. The fire Dept. is asking that all parking regulations be followed. “PLEASE” do not park in prohibited areas. Tickets will be issued and vehicles may be towed.

Garage Sale List

Sons of American Legion will have breakfast and lunch served at the Swisher American Legion Pavilion on Saturday, May 3rd during garage sales.

Saturday, May 10th, 2008 8 am -- Noon Location: Next to City Hall City of Swisher Residents may bring their unwanted items to drop site at no charge except appliances. Household appliances will be $7 each. Do not bring construction debris, paint, toxic waste, tires, or commercial waste. Senior Citizens call City Hall if you need help getting items to drop site.

News from Swisher Community Fund

The $2000 Challenge Our committee continues to work to raise funds to build a playground. We have been challenged by the Community Foundation of Johnson County to raise $2000. If we are able to raise $2000 by the end of May, they will then meet their challenge and receive a matching $2000 grant! We’re almost there, but we need your help. Please consider sending a tax-deductible donation to Swisher Community Fund, c/o City of Swisher, P O Box 279, Swisher, IA 52338. Volunteers Needed Are you interested in helping our community through philanthropy? Volunteers are needed. Consider sharing your talents. We’re looking for people to brainstorm, write newsletters or grants, and build relationships. Consider becoming a volunteer or member of the Swisher Community Foundation Board of Trustees . Contact Swisher City Hall at 857-4539 if you would like to share your talents.
